  1. Silent Bob New Year's Resolutions

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 20 2008

I know it's a tad early to start thinking about what changes you want to make for 2009 with Christmas still five days away, but with all the personal and professional milestones in 2008, I'm a little hard-pressed to come up with some that will make a significant change for the better.

I plan on continuing some things I changed in 2008 because they've been successful, but I also don't want to limit myself either. It's a delicate balance.

Personally, there's a few changes I'd like to make. The first one will also affect me professionally. Plain and simple - I want to work fewer hours. Between all I do, I'm putting in 100+ hours a week. I have very little time to myself, and what time I do have I spend every waking minute doing things with my son. I'd love to make more quality time for him without being so tired. He's an outdoors kid (he loves his games too, but he'd rather play outside), but sometimes I'm too physically worn out to enjoy our baseball, basketball, frisbee, tennis, sledding or whatever.

I'm pretty sure all that has had an impact on my health too. If I could sleep even two more hours a day, I think I'd be far better off. I'd be able to shed some tonnage (NO, I don't literally weigh a ton, but self-deprecation always helps mitigate a more serious situation).

I'd like to be able to sit down for more than two programs a week on TV. I keep telling myself I can catch up on Hulu or DVD, but I don't seem to get around to it.

I'd like to eat better. Not more, just better. Too often I'm so rushed because I tried to squeeze in an extra nine minutes on snooze I can't prepare myself a proper meal, so I opt for convenience, and we all know how unhealthy that can be.

I'd like to be able to actually PLAY some of the games I see so many others enjoy in my game center. The most time I think I've put in on a game in the last month is 30-40 minutes at a sitting.

I'd like to schedule more tournaments. The only reason Boobacca and I haven't done more tournaments is because of the demands of our computer repair business. Anybody who's ever organized one knows the effort it takes to make it successful. I don't want to organize one with less than 100% effort and attention, because a poor showing reflects badly on our business and us as individuals.

OK - it's YOUR turn, GoG members. What are you going to resolve to change in 2009? What goals or milestones were met for 2008? Share your success with us too!

Sounds like some good and attainable resolutions to me. I think I'll join you!

Nice resolutions! Personally, I want to have every game in my collection completed at least once, and lose 50lbs. If I have time I may try to FC Misirlou and Free Bird in Guitar Hero II, but I don't know if I have the patience.
