  1. Silent Bob Gamerscore Odyssey Part Deux

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 27 2009

Many of you probably noticed by puny girlyman gamerscore languishing just south of 4000 for the longest time.

Now all of a sudden I'm nearly double that. What gives?

My game center is competing against other game centers for most achievements unlocked in the month of May.

Many achievements will be scored at face value if they're pretty easy (cough *ahem* Avatar) or with multipliers if they're a little more difficult to obtain, like the ridiculous zombie kills achievement in Left 4 Dead.

I spent all day Monday (Memorial Day) playing through all the career modes for Guitar Hero: Metallica. I already had guitar done, so I played through bass, drums (my ankle is still spasming and getting tight), and vocals. Peep this - once I finished vocals on Medium (I'm "Mr Medium" remember?), I gave it a whirl on Expert. I figured vocals were my only legitimate shot at unlocking the achievement for finishing the game on any instrument at Expert level. I'm no James Hetfield, but I managed just fine, thank you very much and unlocked the achievement, as well as another achievement for finishing all the career paths.

When Dynafire, Ryu and Seraphim came up for the Bionic Commando Launch Party, they caught me unlocking the Avatar achievements. Did I feel embarassed? No, but only because I hadn't done it earlier in the month! The three-day weekend afforded me the single largest opportunity for personal gaming that I've had in the two years we've been open.

While I think I've done pretty dang well, I've seen some other gamers already up about 10,000 gamerscore from the start of the month.

I have only one word. Make that three words: Get a life!

(I am having fun - just don't tell anybody.)

    Jack,

Much much more than bragging rights. $1000 in in-store credits for the winning game center group (10 players).

You'll soon be an achievement whore...opps...I mean junky, like Dynafire, haha.

Listen to the All-Team Foxy Episode of the recent GoGcast to fully understand the joke Wink

Is there a prize that the winners get? Or is it just to show who is truly number one?

Also the vocals in GH games pretty much have you singing on expert on any difficulty pitch wise, so that was some smart thinking you did there Wink .

Best of luck, you have my support! Now go kick some lobsters into a street and watch them get run over by rick-shaws! At least I didn't swear Laughing
