  1. Silent Bob iGames Ladders

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jul 31 2008

We've been having a good time this fiscal quarter with the iGames ladder tournaments for Call of Duty 4 (XBox 360) and Halo 3 (360, of course).

For those of you not part of iGames as a game center owner or player, they sponsor ladder tournaments every quarter for different games with a $1500 prize pot up for grabs to split among the top eight teams. Teams of four play against other teams of four from other iGames Centers all across the United States. Some of our toughest competitors are from right here in Iowa from The Gamer in Dubuque. Those guys have mad skills. Nice to see such good representation from Iowa teams against the usual top teams from California, Florida, and Texas.

Anyway, we've fielded teams in the past for Call of Duty 4 and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and did OK. Our Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 team placed 7th out of a small field of 19 teams and made it to the playoffs. They lost in the first round. Our Call of Duty 4 team ended up just missing the playoffs by a squeaker. Their field was much much bigger, so this was quite an accomplishment. Needless to say, they were all ready for another chance this time around.

We're fielding two teams for Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 this quarter, and we've got 1 team from each ladder that is kicking some serious butt.

First, we had some late entries with a team called Da Clan. I think they drive up from Norwalk. Anybody from Da Clan on these boards feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. They're currently 15-6 and ranked 2nd overall on the iGames ladder. REPRESENT!

The Halo 3 team is called Authority Omega, and at least a couple members are here on the GoG (Fr3ak2 and Thai Vip3r). Three of the four have competed together previously, winning one of our 4v4 Halo tournaments at Cyber Ops. Dakota (aka/Thai Vip3r) also won our FFA, so these guys can definitely play. Nathan (aka/Fr3ak2) is new to their squad but has fit right in. He's pretty pumped to have such good people around him. The team is currently 7-2 and ranked 3rd overall in the ladder. Wow!

The teams they're facing seem pretty serious about the game, and most of them have obviously played since Halo: Combat Evolved came out on the original XBox. So for these guys to be 3rd overall right now is saying something.

Not to get ahead of myself, but Boobacca and I are really looking forward to next quarter already. There has been so much interest from other teams now that they see how successful Da Clan and Authority Omega have been so far. We're looking at adding more 360s to our center to accomodate the gamers who want to come up for these ladder tournaments.

We were up there for GoG Game Night last week and saw the CoD4 teams playing. One of them got beat by the 1st place team, but lag was apparent, which is the crappy thing about online environment...especially with money on the line. Do they use referees to track this type of activity?

Anyways, keep us updated and soon we'll be announcing a new element here that will really enhance the clan and team organization within GoG Ninja
