  1. BEN The Killers in Kansas City

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 04 2009

I'll admit, this has little to do with gaming, besides the fact that I won't be around here much over the weekend, but today we leave for Kansas City.

We're calling it a bachelor party, but 4 of us are bombing down there for a wild night in downtown KC tonight, then rocking out with one of my favorite bands, The Killers, at an amphitheater show Saturday night!

We went to The Killers show when they were in Des Moines last year and it seriously rocked, so I'm pumped to what they can do with an outdoor show. I sent them a Facebook message to see if they wanted to have drinks after the show, but we'll see if that happens, lol.

Look for photos around my profile next week and I'm bringing my PSP for the trip, so I suppose this Chronicle is a little bit more about gaming now Wink

    POST WEEKEND UPDATE
Alright. I was excited about this weekend, but after returning from the adventure, I can't believe the epic level this concert weekend presented.

Friday night was a chance to enjoy downtown Kansas City's Power & Light District which was fun, but Saturday's Killers concert experience put that night to shame, haha.

We started the fun at lunch and then in our hotel in Bonner Springs, but the party was moved to the concert parking lot, where we met many soon-to-be friends and partied like we were performing that night.

Drinks, shots, music, laughs, and conversation prepared us for what was yet another amazing performance by The Killers. We had a great vantage point and actually rocked next to another cool group from Des Moines.

Dehydrated and exhausted after 19 amazing song performances, we left the outdoor venue at Sandstone, but before it was over, I ran into 3 out of the 4 band members from Wild Light, which was the great band that opened for The Killers!

I was embarrassed to tell them I had only seen their last song, but I still had a fun conversation from these rockstars from New Hampshire. If you're wondering, they have a GoG flier as well Wink

On Sunday's way home we picked up some fireworks and lost some money at a casino, but I also had the chance to prepare a pretty slick little highlight video that I have posted on my profile here.

We're also trying to establish this video as the #1 ranked video for the event on YouTube, so check out this link or search "Killers at Sandstone" and give it 5 Stars: www.youtube.com/watch?v=27QZKSjcSRA

Thanks to Paul, Matt, Mike, Lauren, The Killers, Wild Light, and the many new friends we made...for such a great time at The Killers in Kansas City!

The trick to meeting bands is to either go to the hotel their staying at, or showing up early and hang around their busses. Or if their pretty cool buy one of their meet and greet V.I.P. passes.

Not my style of music, but none-the-less I hope you enjoy it to the fullest and hopefully they will have those drinks with you!
