Video Game Review - Shaun White Snowboarding
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 08 2009
Well yesterday I asked for a snow storm with my "Let It Snow" Chronicle and today it came in full force. We're in the midst of a white out and even adults get excited for a snow day away from work
I left the office today at noon and before getting back to work at my "home office", I thought I'd unwrap Shaun White Snowboarding for the Xbox 360 and virtually do what I enjoy most about the snow...boarding in it!
I realize there's a sequel out already, but I found this at Walmart for under $20 and as a neat game I saw at E3 2008, I've been waiting to shred this game's wide open mountains for some time now. Even though the Wii version that uses the Wii Fit board was one of my favorite things at E3 2008, that little Wii of mine rarely gets turned on and I knew the 360 was the only way I'd enjoy this title.
Anyways, I got caught up in this game as it was pretty easy to jump right into. Obviously the skills, better equipment, and big time moves are yet to come; but after a couple of hours of gameplay I'd have to say that I enjoy this game.
There's four main locations that you can snowboard at. Each location offers a different flavor of snowboarding, but my favorite so far is Alaska. The natural approach to huge air, cliff jumps, and just a massive environment really makes for some fun virtual snowboarding.
The game promotes progress with small challenges located around the mountain and all along you're working to impress Shaun White. Maybe he and I can be friends someday, but I'm still a punk that kinda sucks compared to him, lol. You're also working to build up cash for new boards, bindings, gear, and other equipment.
Although I'm still a neophyte on these mountains, I did catch myself not wanting to quit and that says something about a single player experience. If YOU have this game, I'd like to see what the online multiplayer is all about and maybe we can have a snowball fight
Overall I'd say that if you enjoy snowboarding, this title would be a good pickup for the Winter season that is upon us. I'm assuming the sequel is also cool, but I haven't seen/played this title yet. You'll likely find Shaun White Snowboarding in the bargain bin these days and talk about a fun game to play on a Snow Day!
Alright, time to strap on my boots and take the helicopter back to the top...

Posted On Dec 08 2009[b]Yeah i love snowboarding myself but I'm not quite sure anything could ever live up to SSX series. Although I have never played any Shaun White games, I would like to hear your opinion on it BEN, does Shaun White come close or surpass the SSX snowboarding series?
