  1. BEN Video Game Review - Gran Turismo 5

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 19 2010

So I traded in the Prologue GT ($6) and Killzone 2 ($6) and picked Gran Turismo 5. I also picked up a 55" LED TV, so these two purchases have combined to create a new obsession with big screen, high definition racing, lol!

Overall, this is the Gran Turismo I love. Racing to get that next BA car, then juicing it until it barely stays on the road. I'm loving this game. Along with the racing modes I expected, the go-kart, NASCAR, and long touring modes are especially fun.

It does take some patience, but I waited until I had around $399,000 until I went car shopping. I wanted to pick up a new Lamborghini ($395,000), but I'm glad I went into the used car lot and picked up a sick 2003 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe ($215,000). This beauty rides smooth, but after around $100,000 of additional tuning and major upgrades, this car straight screams.

I'm at Rank 13 now and am letting the AI driver enjoy the B-Spec races as we speak. I don't mind giving the wheel to my driver and letting him collect some credits, ranked points, and new cars for me. Overall, this game brings me back to what I enjoyed most about Gran Turismo. It's a simulation, so it takes patience and you actually need to use the brakes, but the cars are beautiful and the "Gran Turismo Mode" has kept me involved and racing to pick up that next win.
