  1. BEN Grand Theft Auto 4 - Initial Thoughts

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 08 2008

As I mentioned in my recent Chronicle about Mario Kart (Wii), Grand Theft Auto 4 was the other main title I've been excited to play!

I can't remember the last game that I've gotten so excited to work my way through, that is not completely online. I realize this game has some cool online game options, but I'm yet to venture out yet. The game had me hooked from the beginning, primarily because I was mentally excited to hit the dirty streets of Liberty City AND the very cool cinematic way the entire game feels as you play it.

Although I can see someone saying it's very much like the GTA3, with new characters, maps, and storyline...the differences make this one worth checking out for sure.

I've only killed my first main boss as I rise to the top of the crime world, but I've already enjoyed some fast cars, a few violent scenes, some colorful languages/activities, and even a few friendly social connections the adventure allows you to make, lol.

SIDE NOTE: I think it's interesting that this game is getting so much mainstream visibility and yet doesn't seem to be getting as much pressure from the conservative groups. I understand they're still out there hating the game, but it doesn't seem to compare to the insane debates that were around when the series first started getting nasty with GTA3. Maybe people are just used to the fact that people enjoy the game and know they are only ponds in how the game gets to be so successful. I'll never know, but I thought I'd point that out.

Because I spent some extra time reviewing Mario Kart, I'm going to have to cut this video game review a bit short, but I think Grand Theft Auto 4 is a very interesting, interactive, and exciting game. If you can handle some rougher than normal language and game play situations, you'll enjoy the complexity and depth this game really has to offer.

I'd say this too is a buying situation and I'm sure it'll give you enough game playing time to make it a worth while investment! I'm sure I'll end up online sooner than later and I'll also try to get an updated review online as I move up and through the street game, so hit me up and we'll ruin Liberty City together...

    9/10

Nice review Wink . The online play can be fun but some of the features are kinda annoying. Like the fact that you can't pick a custom match fitting your settings. It picks a host at random and whatever they choose you have to play Sad

Glad to see you're enjoying it so far! It is a fantastic game, and the multiplayer is pretty fun as well. Free roaming with a bunch of friends is incredibly fun, even when someone decides to shoot out your tires when you're flying down the street and you slam into a building... Laughing
