  1. BEN GoG Going to NYC's Times Square

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Sep 09 2008

Today officially began our company’s next live video game event management job.

We are working for a company called Massive, which develops advertising within some of the biggest games we all play every day. They are a Microsoft affiliated company and are having a one night client event where our company, Jet Set Studio, is managing the video gaming element at the event in New York’s Times Square! Tomorrow's one day meeting in NYC that I am headed to, will be to site visit some of the location ideas for the event in November and to establish details of how we’re going to rock this event. For the actual event in November, we’ll be taking the same three man JSS team we had at Microsoft’s Tech-Ed in Orlando, so this quick site visit is a unique and exciting opportunity to connect ideas and start organizing details for this one-night event in downtown New York! I’m super pumped to jump over there for a two night stay in Times Square.

My trip to New York City started at 4:20am today, Tuesday Sept. 9th. It’s always hard to get up when it’s still dark outside, but after getting through the ever-friendly airport security guards, I headed to the terminal where my GoG adventures began.

As I waited for boarding to begin, I naturally fired up my PSP to get some early action on the new game I had rented for the trip, The Bigs. I was disappointed to find my PSP was almost completely out of battery and my power cord was in the bag I had recently checked, but across the room was another gamer who was rocking some Tiger Woods with a PSP full of life…so I walked over and asked about a power cord. He had one and I got some juice added to my PSP!

Soon after, it was time to board, so I gave the power cord back to my unknown gamer friend, said thanks, had a short discussion about Tiger Woods on the PSP, and got him a GoG flier. I saw him in the plane and with a small amount of people on the plane and to say thanks for joining our social network, I let him play my Lumines II on the flight since he had complained about not having a new game in awhile Very Happy

Gamers are everywhere and there’s a weird sort of gamer code that exists within the fibers of our society. New York’s Times Square…HERE I COME.
