  1. Silent Bob Two more RRODs today!

I know some of you have had your share of Red Rings of Death. We've been pretty fortunate so far. In the (almost) year we've been open, we've had three XBox 360s red ring on us. All were covered under warranty, but it had us scrambling to find replacements while we waited for them to come back from Microsoft's repair facility.

We just had a regular "Pro" (20GB hard drive - white case) and an "Elite" (120GB hard drive - black case) red ring on us within about 2 hours of each other.

Thank goodness we had the foresight to have a couple spare units we could quickly move into place, so we won't lose any revenue in the three weeks or so it'll take to get this process completed for the repairs.

Hopefully the refurbished ones we get back will run for a good long time.

I read where Microsoft has relented and hired ATI to redesign their GPU. They went cheap on everybody and tried to design the chip in-house to save on development costs and get it out the door sooner. ATI allegedly found numerous problems with their design (chief among them overheating) and should be able to produce a cheap GPU they'll install in all future 360s.

I think they talked to each and said, "we're tired...let's break together."

Sorry to hear that, but as always, it's nice to know that Microsoft stand behind their product pretty well and although the wait sucks, at least you don't have to go an buy new machines Surprised

Man, that's terrible. The RRoD will never be completely eradicated, since all systems will always end up failing at some point, but the 360's life span is just ridiculous sometimes. I've heard of them Red Ringing straight out of the box, and then there are some launch consoles that still function pefectly. The failure rate has gone down significantly, but it's still much higher than other systems. Well, hope you get them back quickly.

That sucks man. I'm sending mine in this week. Not RROD though, it just thinks that my disk tray is open all of the time, no matter what.

That would definitely be cool if the RROD was no longer a factor. Microsoft would be dominating if it wasn't for the 360's massive failure rate.

I have a feeling it's a little too late to be fixing the problem now though. The 360 will forever have a bad track record, and for good reason/
