The Shin Megami Tensei Series

The Shin Megami Tensei series is a Japenese RPG series that, unlike the famed series Final Fantasy, is set in a dark and more gritty tone. In America, only 5 games came out in the series.
The first is Nocturne, a post-apocalyptic Tokyo where a high school student and his friends are caught up in this end of the world deal. The second, and my favorite title, is digital devil saga. It is more on the lines of a story then on gameplay...same with the third one that came out 6 months later. The 4th one is a devil summoner, which is based in Tokyo during the 1920's. Its the first in the series to introduce action fighting, even thought it is still a RPG at its heart.
The last one is persona 3. It's not really a part of the Shin Megami Tensei series, and I haven't really played it yet (some fan I am), but I am looking forward to what Atlus has in store for us in the new game, which is scheduled to release for the PS3 soon.
