Living near Microsoft and Nintendo
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Apr 17 2008
People complain about the rain here. But there are some unique benefits to living in Seattle, just a traffic heavy bridge away from Nintendo and Microsoft.
About five years ago, my wife got a bootleg GBA game from someone on eBay. It completely fried our GBA. So we drove out to Nintendo HQ to see if they'd be willing to help us. Fortunately, they had a mini museum and store that anyone could check out. We showed our dead system to the clerk. He looked up the serial number on his computer, went into the back room, and brought us back a brand new system free of charge!
Many people around here sign up for Microsoft test studies. They call you up, find out what programs and games you're familiar with, and then call you back when they have a test they want you to participate in. Most recently, I was called in to play Blue Dragon on the 360 for an hour. After it was over, I answered a bunch of questions about all aspects of the game. And then I was given a copy of any Microsoft product of my choice. For me that meant Vista Professional...Score!
