  1. JackDaniels624 The Top 5 Vocalists Featured in a Rock Band Game!

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Oct 24 2009

Alright, I'm bored so I'm going to make some chronicles about Rock Band! Today's is all about the vocalists! What will next times be? Drummers? Guitarists? Bassists? Who knows!?!?

Anyway so this list is based primarily on technical abilities, and influence, all while also sounding nice as well...Of course this is all just MY opinion unless stated as fact Laughing .

Anyway this ones pretty tough for me, so it's highly debateable, but I think for the most part it works out just fine.

    5. Ozzy Osbourne-Black Sabbath...Where would we be without Black Sabbath? Quite frankly I really don't wanna know, nor do I want to think about it. Anyway Ozzy has a very distinguishable voice that many fail to replicate. And for all those neophytes out there who only know him from that insulting MTV show, put aside your stereotypes and negative image of him and just listen to the damn music! Then you may judge! By the way he doesn't talk like that because drugs or alcohol, it's Parkin Syndrome. Your making fun of someone with an illness...how do you feel now?

    4. James LaBrie-There's gonna be a lot of Dream Theater on these lists...but you knew that already. James has a seemingly endless vocal range, high, low, it doesn't matter he can nail'em all! Not to mention this guy is LOUD! You could say this about anyone right? OMG HE SINGS INTO DA MIC AND THEY TURN IT UP REAL LOUD!!! No...well yeah that's usually the case, but not here. When you can hear the singers ACOUSTIC voice with all other instruments playing at the same time, now that's loud! The only drawbacks James has are 1. He hates S's. 2. He had surgery and his voice (while still awesome) isn't quite as good as his younger years. 3. His voice is very subjectable, I personally love it, some hate it. Still, he is the true voice of Dream Theater, and his talent is most evident.

    3. Rob Halford-Personally, I don't like putting Rob or the next guy ahead of James, but of course there are reasons for my choices. Rob has nearly a 4 octave vocal span! I have two and a half at best, just imagining 4 just...WOW! Not to mention Judas Priest is a legendary band, and Rob's voice and frontman skills played a large role in Priest's fame. Even two of their biggest mainstream hits (Breaking the Law and You Got Another Thing Comin') still give me a rush today! So here's to stayin' metal Rob!

    2. Freddie Mercury-This was where the confusion kicked in. If Queen hadn't recently gotten DLC in Rock Band, this list would have been a LOT easier...but no...Anyway I admit I haven't listened to a whole lot of Queen, and what I have heard are mainly just mainstream hits (mainstream hits aren't usually the best songs, not necessarily bad, just not as good). Still, I'm smart enough to know that Freddie is most definately one of the most talented singers to have ever walked this planet. I heard Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, and unfortunately We Will Rock You (I hate that song) at work tonight, and I must say...he was made to sing. That's all I've got unfortunately...

    1. BRUCE DICKINSON!-The best (imo). I don't know if Rob or Freddie have a wider octave range, but Bruce (like the others) has something...unique about his voice. It's just so powerful and expansive, and Iron Maiden's live albums prove that he doesn't need a studio to sound amazing! Not to mention that anyone who's ever heard of Maiden knows that their shows (which unfortunately I've only seen on DVD so far...) are one of the most amazing shows you will ever see in your entire life! Bruce (despite being 51 years old!) is still running all over the place, jumping on speakers, and lifting Dave Murray up on his back for a guitar solo! And his voice is still as sharp as it was back in the day! Not to mention the live songs are much like the studio versions, but very different at the same time making the songs feel fresh and new, no matter how many times you've heard them! And normally I don't like to do this, but Bruce is more then just a kick ass singer! He's also a commercial airline pilot, author, director, fencer, and pretty cool guy! Iron Maiden's one of those bands that always sells out shows, no matter where they go! And most of the recent tours have been to places most bands neglect (South America and India immediately come to mind). Not to mention they didn't use MTV or the radio to make it big, oh no...These guys made it simply by making the best music they could, and spreading it all by word of mouth and unique album covers. And there's simply no denying that Bruce's vocal talent and amazing showmanship played a major role in Maiden's legacy!

So there we go, that's my list for now. Feel free to disagree! And for some honorable mentions that I really would have liked to add were Brad Delp and Geddy Lee.

I like what you said about Freddie how mainstream songs arn't always the best, i really first noticed this with Blink-182, oh and when you do the drummers, if Travis and Joey are not on the list i will personally drive up to Minnesota hack your account at your house and but them on the list, no pressure though Wink
