  1. JackDaniels624 The Top 5 Drummers Featured in a Rock Band Game

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Oct 28 2009

    5. Shannon Lucas-I decided that I'd put at least one blast beat player on this list, and I felt Shannon stood out the most. Of course if Suffocation was in the game then he would have been replaced by Mike Smith (no DF, not Bubble's). Anyway, let's continue. Formerly in All That Remains and currently in The Black Dahlia Murder, he has some of the most difficult songs to play in Rock Band. Blast beats require both precision and speed, and if you get off beat it's REALLY hard to get back on track, and Shannon's got the fastest beats in the game!

    4. Nicko McBrain-I was originally going to have Clive Burr alongside Nicko simply for Run To The Hills, but decided to go against it due to Nicko being in the band for so much longer and having many more songs just as and greater then Run To The Hills. Sure the galloping drums is legendary, but let's not forget "The Trooper" is another major drum song from the bands more popular songs, which was all Nicko. And his epic performance in "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"! Or on a more personal level, the opening track on "Piece of Mind" "Where Eagle's Dare"! This man is nothing short of legendary to me and definately earned his spot on this list!

    3. Keith Moon-The problem about this list is there are so many drummers that deserve really high ranks, and some how number 3 seems low for Keith. Keith didn't just play with "The Who", he played AROUND them! Easily the most talented member of "The Who", he was also the best showman! I wish he was still alive so I could see him live and watch those awesome faces he makes while he plays, and see him destroy his drum kit...At least the number one person on this list was highly influenced by Keith so he occassionally replicates some of those actions. Rest in peace Keith!

    2. Neil Peart-That's pronounced Peer-t, not Purt...Family Guy messed that up...Anyone who's may be surprised Peart's on the list really needs to listen to Rush, he's quite possibly the best progessive rock drummer around! His kit's pretty big and he utilizes it to the fullest in his fills and drum solo's, it's no wonder he's been such an influence on modern drummers!

    1. Mike Portnoy-If anyone is surprised I cite Portnoy as number 1 obviously hasn't spent more then 5 minutes around me. Imo, Mike basically took everything that Peart did, elevated it to new heights, and added his own creativity into the mix! His kits are appropriately named monsters due to the size, and the reason for this is because he wanted to be able to be able to play a big proggy kit for for the technical styles of Dream Theater, but also wanted a classic, smaller, single bass kit as well. His kits are so big that he physically has to get up and move to play the other side of the kit! He also occassionally invites other famous drummers onstage to play with him on stage! Not to mention his fills always match the songs feeling, he rarely (if ever) misses a beat (even when he breaks or drops a stic), and even adds humor (influenced by Keith) in his shows (when I saw him he stuck a stick in his nose). And I know I really should be judging him solely on drumming for this list (which he'd still take number 1 anyway), but I have to mention that he's one of the greatest, passionate lyricists that has ever walked this planet. Who else has written such an amazing song about the 12 steps of the AA program, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or his touching story of "Carpe Diem". I could go on all day about Mike, so I'll just stop now Laughing

Other honorable mentions are Dave Grohl, Dave Lombardo, and of course, John Petrucci (Refer to "Nightmare Cinema"...also yeah it is a joke), Stewart Copeland, and Ringo Starr
