1. Another Bad Fire Emblem tale...

   So I finally got to the Serenes Forest in Path of Radiance. Ike was finally gunna get a promotion after 2 and 5/6 levels staying in the shadows as a level 20. At least that was a chance for my other characters to level nicely.
   
   So finally after hours of marching through the forest (and losing a couple of characters that were destined to die anyway) I finally got to part four of the chapter...and everything is going fine. I had my main soldiers head south east to engage the enemies coming at us, and eventually pushed them back. At the same time I had some of my weaker units (my healer, spellcasters, and archer) along with Ike (since he couldn't level and he couldn't drop Leanne) and Jill near the starting area.
   
   Before I end my turn I say to myself "hmm...I expect that theres going to be an ambush coming soon...I should probobly move someone back up there." Then good news! Tibarn shows up with reinforcements taking out a mage who already used up his 5 meteorite spells, but still could have done some damage against Muarim. Then of course since I had to say it, 4 mounted archers appeared up at the top by all my weak units.
   
   I didn't really hesitate (despite knowing they could ride farther then I could run) too much because I knew I could probobly take out enough of them so everyone could survive. I took out 2 of them, and I started to hesitate because I noticed that even though I took out the Venin Bow archer, I only took out one of the 2 silver bow archers. I panicked for Jill when I ended my turn because unlike Makalov, I actually cared if she died!
   
   But then I noticed that they didn't attack Jill, instead Ike! Now I was glad at first thinking "Oh Ike's always been able to avoid attacks, even while carrying Leanne! He's just too slow to attack twice in a row!" But I was wrong...the 2 archers managed to get 2 shots each and despite both of them only having a 53 percent chance of hitting Ike, ALL 4 SHOTS HIT! AND THE LAST ONE (which had a 3 percent chance) WAS A FREAKIN' CRITICAL HIT!!!
   
   So after playing 4 hours in a row, just to get Ike to get promoted so I could go to bed, Ike dies and I had to redo (thankfully) only the last part of the forest this morning and finally Ike got his promotion...
   
   I always feel I gotta somehow vent when I have one of those "ABSOLUTELY SCREWED!!!" Fire Emblem moments...so their you go hope you had fun wasting your time, cuz I sure did!
