I've been playing Inselkampf since..oh October of 2006. Its one of those simple to learn much more difficult to master types of games. The game is web-based so I'm able to play it pretty much anywhere. I even hear of some of my alliance mates playing it on their cell phones.
The game is a all about conquering islands and building powerful military fleets. Also the time investment you want to put into the game is completely up to you. You could play it a few minutes a day or hours a day. Endlessly plotting your next island take over and discussing it on the forums.
I was fairly lucky to join the currently ranked #1 alliance when I joined. They all came from the DIGG website and aptly call themselves DIGG in game. For any one who enjoys building empires from the lands they take over should have a look at it. Currently there is an artical on the DIGG.com website letting other users know about the game.
