  1. Seripha Bionic Commando Release Party... Or Something Similar...

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 25 2009

I figured I would throw up a quick chronicle entailing my experience at the Bionic Commando release party this last Saturday. Granted there isn't much I can say beyond what Dynafire already pointed out in his chronicle, but we'll see how close our experiences match...

RyuBlitz and I showed up just slightly before the event began. We hadn't slept the night before due to all the drug running we were doing for the Serbians. We waited outside for a couple minutes at which point Dynafire cruised up in his fiery red Porsche. Dressed from head to toe in an Italian silk suit he slowly opened his trunk and removed a sack. He handed the sack to me. I returned to him a wad of money, a wink, and a nod.

We all proceeded into the gaming the center. I had played the Bionic Command demo before and was very impressed. However, playing the complete version really brought it home for me. The whole idea behind the game was very unique from any shooter I have ever played before. Using your commando's claw to swing from one building, bridge, sign, person to another brought a whole new aspect to this shooter that exponentially increased its fun. At times the hit detection may have been slightly askew, but this was not nearly big enough a problem to deter my opinion on how much fun the game was to play overall. I think the most fun part of the game for me was the team deathmatch. Working together with RyuBlitz and Dynafire to stomp the blue team was something I could have done all day. Even capture the flag was considerably fun. This is saying a lot coming from me as I usually don't care a whole lot for objective games.

The winner-take-all deathmatch for the awesome headset couldn't have been a better showdown. After killing myself twice at the start of the match by jumping towards buildings that one apparently can't grapple and falling to my death, I was able to kick it up a gear and span the deficit. Ultimately, Dynafire took the win with RyuBlitz and I coming in second and third. The score difference separating me from Dynafire was only 3 kills. Close indeed.

All in all, the release party was a great time. Not only did I win a gift card to Best Buy, but also everyone got free Bionic Commando shirts. Add to that the free pizza and pop, and I am not sure how one can go wrong.

    Cheers,
    Seripha

Nice chronicle, though I don't really recall wearing my Italian silk suit. It was more of a standard 3-piece with pin stripes. I talked to Smirnov and he said...oh wait, I shouldn't say that on here. Wink How are the contents of that sack working for you by the way? Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention the shirts. facepalm.

Anyway, I think you did a better job at this than I did. I agree with everything you said about the game too. I think a lot of what makes the multiplayer fun is that it's engaging. You're always doing something on the controller, as opposed to Halo/Call of Duty/Gears of War where you spent a moderate amount of time just moving around and looking for people, Bionic Commando makes that aspect much faster and involving. You have to constantly monitor your swing path and think ahead, or there's a good chance you'll end up on the ground somewhere you don't want to be, and become easy pickings for snipers or anyone with elevation on you.
