I Am Enlightened
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jul 21 2009
After much blood, sweat, and tears, I finally have the Enlightened Guitarist achievement for Guitar Hero III. For those of you who don't know, this achievement requires that the player hit 100 percent of the notes on 20 different songs on the expert difficulty setting.
A while back I had given up on this achievement. I gold starred 8 songs on expert and decided I didn't want to put forth the effort to get 20... Then I happened to spend the weekend at RyuBlitz's place... Somehow his Xbox managed to glitch after he had played a song, and the game gave me this achievement even though I did not earn it! I had heard of people intentionally glitching these achievements, but you can imagine my surprise when it happened accidentally. Contrary to how most people would have reacted, I was upset. I pride myself in the fact that all my achievements are legit, and knowing that I had this achievement without actually deserving it ate at me until I decided to give it another run.
After starting up again, I was surprised at how much easier a time I was having. I was averaging 2 to 3 gold stars per night that I was devoting to it. Before I knew it, I had racked up 19 gold stars with far less difficulty than I had assumed. The last song was one of the most frustrating as I had a handful of runs where I would miss a note within the last 10 or so notes of the song. However, with a lot of determination and a little elbow grease I finally nailed it.
The following is a list of the songs I gold starred:
Slow Ride by Foghat
Talk Dirty to Me by Poison
Story of My Life by Social Distortion
Mississippi Queen by Mountain
Sunshine of Your Love by Cream
Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine
When You Were Young by The Killers
Miss Murder by AFI
My Name is Jonas by Weezer
Can't Be Saved by Senses Fail
Closer by Lacuna Coil
Generation Rock by Revolverheld
Metal Heavy Lady by Lions
Radio Song by Superbus
Ruby by The Kaiser Chiefs
She Bangs the Drums by The Stone Roses
Tina by Flyleaf
The Arsonist by Thrice
Hole in the Earth by Deftones (I am also ranked 144th on guitarhero.com for this score /flex)
Sabotage by Beastie Boys
My next goal now is the Guitar Hero achievement. This achievement requires the player to score 5 stars on every song on expert. The only song I have remaining is Raining Blood. My best attempt is 204,761. The 5 star cutoff is 227,214. I have already played this song until my eyes have bled, but since this achievement is another one that glitched onto my account along with Enlightened Guitarist, I really have no choice but to do it .
So, I suppose I owe RyuBlitz some thanks in a sick twisted sort of way. I worked my fingers numb to get this achievement thanks to him, but I would have never done it otherwise. In light of that, I guess I can let it slide this time .
Cheers,
Seripha

Posted On Jul 22 2009Actually, my last gold star was between Can't Be Saved and Reptilia. I had an 800 note streak on Reptilia and messed up within the last few notes. I was furious. After that, I just kept making mistakes during the chorus. The speed of the strumming combined with the odd note separation seemed to cause me to miss at least one note every time. Can't Be Saved just happened to be easier for me.

Posted On Jul 22 2009Congrats! I'm surprised you didn't go for Reptilia though. Oh well, all that matters is you got the 20.
