  1. Link Legend of Spyro: Dawn of Dragons Review

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Nov 16 2008

    Stop for a second.

Remember back to a time when we all had the PS1, and played the demo for Spyro the Dragon, using the cheat code on Crash Bandicoot game. Then the game actually came out, and sold the most any video game had sold ever, for it's time. We all loved it, and probably still would pick it up for a while, just for the sense of nostalgia.

Remember those times? Sadly, they no longer exist. But the new Legend of Spyro: Dawn of Dragons actually takes us to a time three years in the future... or so you learn.

You are awakened by bandits, who shattered the crystal that you were being held captive in. (did i mention nostalgia about Spyro 1 yet?) You lay there on the ground, seemingly injured. They lace a magical snake on your neck, and it turns to metal. They do the same to the other dragon next to you.

If you played the last game, Spyro: the eternal night, You just might know about Cinder. She was the "bad guy" in the last game, of whom you saved from the dark side in hopes that you could turn her from her ways, back to the Cinder you knew from your childhood (Anyone remember her standing outside The giant mountain in Ripto's Rage, with no other lines than, "You can do it, Spyro" ?)

Anyways, apparently, you are saved from these bandits by a mysterious man, who says: 'follow me if you want to live' (talk about cliches) You get up slowly, and begin to follow, when you are stopped by a magic (from the snake on your neck). You realize that you are magically bound to Cinder. She wakes up, and she learns of what is going on: then the game continues to say some stuff, insert boring dialog here, say this, click yes, blah, blah, blah. You meet your ancestor (via hologram) who tells you of your magical abilities. Spyro holds the power of Fire, Ice, Earth, and Thunder. Cinder is responsible for Poison, Wind, Shadow, and something else which doesn't seem to help you at all.

As you progress, you learn that you indeed have been trapped in the crystal for 3 years, and the world has been taken over by a evil unnamed force. (ooh scary ... hehe) Of course you are always followed by Sparx, who now actually looks like a dragonfly (and has speakable dialog, not just text anymore, and dam is he ever annoying to listen to...)

    Rating 6.8

Basically, If you like spyro, you might like this game. If you LOVE the last spyro, You will like this game, I guarentee it.
