  1. Link N+ Review

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 25 2008

N earned its reputation as one of those little Flash games that could. With an aesthetically minimalist presentation, a lovable stick-figure-ninja protagonist, and some of the most engaging platformer physics ever, it quickly became one of the most beloved work distractions in memory. N+ brings the whole thing to DS, Live Arcade, and PSP, jam-packed with hundreds of levels, all sorts of multiplayer, and the same addictive mechanics and ineffable style that made the original such a hit. If it weren't held back by a few severely annoying technical issues, it may just be the best Arcade title yet.

The goal of every stage -- each of which take place in single rooms of varying size -- is to hit the exit-door switch, then get to the exit door. Easy enough in theory, but with mines, patrolling robots, missiles, lasers, and more in the way, it's rarely a straightforward task. The level designs themselves are deviously brilliant, by and large, requiring heroic displays of skill and timing to best the more difficult ones. And they get ridiculously challenging after the first few sets, with both constant obstacles and the crushing pressure of time (you can collect gold scattered around the stages to extend it for a little breathing room, at least) on your plate.

    Rating 10

A rare sight indeed, a rating 10 from this self-proclaimed overly harsh reviewer. But when a game does everything it promises, in the most effective way... it's hard not to say, "Perfect!".

You are given around 200 stages to mess around with... but that's only the program. You are given a level editor to harass yourself, and your friends, with. As well as downloadable content Very Happy

All that is left to say is.....

    Enjoy
