Unlucky in Left 4 Dead

I was recently playing Left 4 Dead with a couple of friends over xbox live. We were playing the 'No Mercy' campaign. In the first level I managed to disturb the Witch, and set off the car alarm.
Dispite all of this bad luck, I was the only survivor, to well survive, much to the disgust of my friends. With a game like Left 4 Dead, it takes half skill and half luck to be good. It all depends on the locations of the infected and weapons, pills and first aid kits.
So I never understand why some peopel I encouter on the game get so angry playing it. Although it is amusing to hear them moan and scream, they do just incourage you shoot the witch in the back of the head and then leg it towards your fellow suvivors.
