  1. GrifEagle Halo Wars - Demo Review

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Feb 05 2009

So this morning I was up early and waiting eagerly on the Xbox Live Dashboard, to download the Halo Wars demo.

After downloading it, I started it up and tried out the tutorials. Now, I'm not great with RTS's, I've only really ever played LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II, which I enjoyed, even though I never got any good at it, but this was great!

After working through the tutorials, I jumped into the campaign. It starts of with an amazing cut scene, while the graphics and gameplay were awesome. People were worried because this is an RTS on a console, but it works really well. Ensemble Studios pulled it off, the controls are great and simple, so even an RTS newbie like myself, can jump right in a start enjoying Halo Wars.

    Very Happy

I wish I could get my hands on this title! I love RTS games, and one set in the Halo universe is such a great idea! It looks amazing!

I used to be against RTS (and RTS-like) games on consoles until I played the demo for Civilzation: Revolution. When a company sets out to make a game FOR the consoles, rather than trying to make it work afterwords, you end up a nice product! I think that HD has helped a lot too, you can get way more (legible) information on the screen than you used to be able too!

Awesome video game demo review here, so thanks!

I'm excited to get after this demo as well and will most likely be picking the full version up when it releases. Maybe you can add to the conversation for this game, over in the GoG Forum as well Wink
