  1. MaTrIx My Mission Last Night...

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Apr 27 2009

Its my days off. I'm sitting at home, bored, make that really bored. The problem is I live about 50 miles from Las Vegas. What now? I sit back in my computer chair and think about what there is to do. Then I realize...I don't have HAWX yet.

I check the clock. Its 9pm...mall is already closed so that leaves out Gamestop. Wal-Mart is always open though, I run to the bedroom to change and grab my wallet, keys and cell phone. I head out to my truck and press the remote button to unlock the door, jump in and floor it down the freeway.

30 minutes later I get off the freeway on St. Rose Parkway (Henderson, Nv). Heading to Wal-Mart on St. Rose I get stuck behind a SLOOOOOOW person. Pop over to the number 2 lane and I put my foot into it...the person can barely see over the steering wheel. I may have seen knuckles and a blue bonnet...I'm not really sure though. I get into the turn lane for Spencer (less traffic than Eastern).

As usual construction is abound on Spencer. Construction crews have orange cones set up like a road race course, I take full advantage and have some fun, taking them at 60 mph. Coming out of the mini road course I put foot down to the floor yet again (yep...I used to street race). One red light later I pull into the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Jump out of the truck and I go inside heading straight to electronics. I get to the 360 game section and start scanning for the object of my desire...I'm don't see it. Maybe I overlooked it...I check again. Nope, not here. I check my cell phone, its 9:45pm. I know its a long shot but maybe the Target up the street is still open. Walking out I pass by the magazines and grab the newest issue of OXM, pay at the cashier then its back to the truck.

I pull back onto Spencer. I now have only 13 minutes to get to Target before 10pm which is when most stores close. Luckily I have green lights all the way to Silverado Ranch (street Target is on). I fly down Silverado Ranch almost missing the turn-in for Target. Safely in the parking lot I look around...the parking lot is nearly empty...a gust of wind blows a tumbleweed past me. I decide to take my chances and I get out and practically run for the doors.

Coming up to the automatic doors I start praying that they open. Time was starting to slow down. I could hear my watch ticking...I step under the sensor.

There comes times in ones life that seem to define ones being. Times where there is a certain mental clarity. This was one of those times. I always tend to be a day late and a dollar short.

That was not to be the case this day...the doors swing open. I head to the gaming section. Again, I scan the titles. I don't see it here either. I turn to walk out disappointed then decide to check again. I start looking, this time I check behind an advertisement sticker on the glass. Hiding behind that sticker I see it sitting there all nice and snug. I press my hand to the glass...so close yet still so far away.

Now unlike having to hunt for help in Wal-Mart, Target has this nifty button you can press to announce to whom ever is working that help is desparately needed. I press it, help gets there in 15 seconds. I tell the girl working that I love this place and that Wal-Mart sucks. She laughs...plus she is cute. Around 25-ish with dark hair and green eyes...my most major weakness. Feeling lucky this night I ask her if she would like to go out sometime, I then pay for my new game and head home.

Walking to the truck I pull out my cell phone and make a call to Sushi Mon for a 10 piece sushi dinner. By the time I get there it is ready and waiting by the register. I pay and head to the freeway. It was a great night, I got a new game and some sushi. I put Matisyahu into the cd player and blast it on the way home.

Its 12:30 when I get home (I took my time). After I change and put my stuff away I head to the bedroom and put HAWX in the xbox. I played until around 6am this morning. Great game and great graphics.

So far I've been up for about 2 hours and now I have to end this chronicle...I have a date to get ready for. Wink

I agree with JD! What an epic account of the time you went on this adventure to purchase HAWX Laughing

Great read and although the content is semi-meaningless, haha, I scored this 10/10 for sure and will look for a full game review or GoG Forum discussion from you soon!
