  1. Kupo_Cakes Top Ten Games That You And Your Children Can enjoy!

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jun 03 2008

So I was thinking the other day of how gamers who are also parents, like to have games that their kids can watch them play or when old enough, can get a hold of and play too. Now i've noticed many people who have kids complain about not knowing what games they can get that they will both enjoy, and be age appropiate for their spawn. :P

So today I have decided to give my personal top ten games that I Think both parents and kids can enjoy Smile

    1. Viva Pinata. ( xbox 360) This game is a GREAT game for you and your children. It has simple controls, and is a blast to play. Plus what kid doesn't enjoy taking care of pinatas and a garden?! lol

    2. My Sims-( Wii). With cute, customizable characters, a town you can completely build on your own, and easy and fun to play gameplay, this was a for sure game on the list! Smile

    3. Harvest Moon: Magical Melody- (gamecube) Fairly easy controls, Fun and not too easy goals. You can choose to be a female/male farmer, grow crops, raise livestock, fall in love, and have a family. This is a game I let my niece watch and try to make her play. lol. (shes only 3. )

    4. Cooking Mama- (Ds) While i think the second Cooking Mama is a little more confusing, and the Wii one is a little hard to control, The first Cooking Mama on Ds is a perfect game for both you and your children. Small tasks to cook and complete a meal is the object of the game. Its a very laid back and relaxing game.

5.Sonic Mega Collection Plus- (PS2) This game is basically a game complied of all of the Sonic the Hedgehog games on Genesis and Gamegear. This shouldn't need an explanation of why it made the list, but I think All kids need to experience old school Sonic the Hedgehog, Plus Everyone including parents should enjoy this game!

6.Mario Kart Wii (Wii) This is a Great game for you and your children to enjoy either together, or by yourself. Nintendo never seems to let you down, and Mario Games will always be a collection for you and your children to enjoy forever!

    7. DDR/ Guitar Hero- (Ps2, Wii, Ps3, Xbox 360 ) Wiether Jumping around dancing , or rocking out to some music on your plastic guitar, Both of these game series are great for exercise, hand/foot eye cordination, and are enjoyable for you and your family.

    8. Katamari Damacy Series- (ps2, PsP, xbox 360) If you want games that are friendly, comical, and still challenging, look no further than the katamari games. Smile

    9. Kingdom Hearts- (PS2) Ok this game is a little more advanced, so maybe 8+ age group would enjoy this the most. If you wanna start playing an awesome Rpg, and get your children into rpgs, this is a great game to get. Square Enix meets Disney...who could ask for any more?!

    10. Animal Crossing (gamecube, Ds) This game makes major family points in my book. It is defiently fun for all ages, its family friendly, the characters are loveable, and you can get lost for hours just running around town either fishing, catching bugs, or just running errands for your nieghbors.

There you have it. These are some of my personal games I consider to be great for you and your family! Smile So what are you waiting for? Get playing!

yeah i was going to add the lego, and so many other games, but i had to narrow it down to a top ten. i could have done 30, maybe even 40 if i wanted.. but didnt want it to be to long. lol. I put on mario kart wii that the mario series itself will always be enjoyable for all ages, because i couldnt pick just one mario game. haha

Yeah, great post here Kupo! I was going to mention the Lego series, Super Mario Galaxy (Wii), and many of the classic NES games. With those older/retro games, the 8-bit technology wasn't ABLE to be too gory, haha.

I don't have kids, but when I do, they'll be gamers for sure...especially with their dad, who hopes to have a digital entertainment room dedicated to video games! Laughing

LEGO Star Wars (I, II, Complete Saga); LEGO Indiana Jones (just got it today, and WOW!) are some of my favorites to play with my 8-year-old. We also enjoy the SpongeBob SquarePants games (Movie game, Battle for Bikini Bottom especially) for GameCube or original XBox.

Guitar Hero is definitely a blast to play with the younger set, although don't be surprised when they quickly outpace you skill-wise! My little guy dropped the famous Star Wars line on me when he advanced to Hard when I was still stuck on Medium ("Once I was your student. Now I am the Master!").

We always had great matches with Mario Kart Double Dash for the GameCube, and now that fun has extended to the Wii version. I still like the GC controller, but he uses the wheel. We still split matches about 50-50.

Despite what detractors say about games, it definitely allows for some "bonding time" with your child, male or female.

Kupo has done a great job compiling this list that not only cuts across age groups but also gender. My son and I have had some spirited Cooking Mama Cookoff battles!
