final fantasy x-2 problems? Help!

ok help! I feel like im going crazy! i went to replay this game after about 2 years of not seeing it, and
i know theres supposed to be this active battle thing on x-2, WHICH I DONT REMEMBER! O_O
anwyays, its doing it with the charging and all, but 20 x worse. im getting attacked every second, and im being attacked at the same time im atttacking? and my characters are being jumbled into a little pack almost, and not staying in formation?!
Now for some reason i remember the fighting being just like X, but its not. I dont mind it being like the older games, but the thing is i dont remember it being this way. i played it right after i finished X and dont remember the battle system being different then x. . im really only confused because my characters are being hit over and over, even when im in the dressphere grid, they are being hit at the same time as im attacking, they are being jumbled around... ( like paine ended up in front of yuna and the guy threw his shield and it went right through paine and hit yuna? i also had rikku dissapear of screen? ) so heres the thing. i thought it was the memory, even though i just made a new file !!) so i tried my old file. Was still glitchin out and being shit. So then i tried different memory cards. nopE! same problems!
then i thought hmm.. maybe its just my game. i have had it a long time... Sooo i went and got a new copy since its cheap. NOPE still fucked up. Then i tried different tv thinkin maybe its lagged out or somting cus new flatscreen? ( stupid i know) but of course that wasnt it.
WHAT DO I DOO
i tried 2 different games, 2 memory cards, 3 files, 2 tvs!?!
EDIT: I also have tried turning active mode off and putting it on wait ...ive tried turning battle help off, and etc etc.
ALSO : I kinda remember it being like this now, but my problem is still that its glitching way bad where i cant see my characters, and i can barely attack and they are walking through my characterS? and my characters and leaving formation?
ughh i dont care. theres better games out there to be played anyways
