Home consoles are a gamer's best friend, no question about it. The current generation of consoles have tried to strengthen this bond.

Of course I mean the addition of online multiplayer, adding a much longed for sense of socializing. As wonderful as it is, many gamers(myself among them) feel that it is still mostly a burden.

With trash talkers, hate spewers, trolls, and spammers, the online community for most games feels like a social engagement sailors would refuse to attend. Often, there is no separation between players with immense skills and the fresh virgin noobs they love to frag. More and more gamers feel the need to socialize with other gamers, and wish to do so in a more comfortable environment.

As I was growing up, arcades were already on the way out. The time I spent in arcades was worth more than all the quarters in all the machines.

It still amazes me that anonymous competition across the world holds such a grasp over gamers. Wouldn't it be more enjoyable to hang out and truly get know fellow gamers? Trading tips and strategies, competing for high scores, and at the same time making meaningful continuous relationships, instead of anonymous, often random, brief encounters where one is mostly too busy playing the game to really accomplish any real form of socializing? If you ask me, there is nothing better than seeing the look on their face when you have bested them, or really feeling the energy of an opponent giving it his all.

I can appreciate this thought for sure jesterozzy. I think the social dark side of gaming is one of the main reasons this type of community exists!

Imagine a friends list full of GoG members, who you KNOW can not only bring more fun into your gaming experience, but you might also meet them at a video game event or tournament. That's what this video game community has provided for me and if you choose to get more involved around here, I think you'll find it's easy to do the same Wink

Nice start to your Chronicles and keep them coming...
