Gamer Bio:
Born into an eight bit world. It was at the tender age of 3 that I first encountered what would be an everlasting pursuit of
interactive story immersion. It was the days of the Atari 2600, (well actually it was well after the days of the 2600 as I was born in 1983, but I didn't know that there were other systems out there at the time, so it was my time of 2600), and it was a magical time indeed. Playing games is probably one of the first memories I ever had, and by the time I was eight years old, I had my first thoughts of really wanting to be involved in the creation of such enthralling stories and worlds.
Life sometimes throws some curve balls though, and it wouldn't be until 11 years later that the actual pursuit of said dreams would actually start to take place.
Here was the age of 3d chips, the time of Half Life. I had recently been introduced to team fortress classic by my uncles in North Carolina (also the guys who gave me my first console) during a summer visit. I had recently become interested in programming in general as I was trying to stay out of trouble and found myself with a lot of spare time. With the thirst for knowledge and my first real introduction into the world of pc gaming, the rest as they say is history. I set out over the course of the next few years determined to learn as much about game programming as I
could.
Of course, what I learned is that there is a seemingly never ending well of information in the area of game development. So, I met a few fellows who were artist, looking for someone to create the tools to create some games for them. And in late 2006 I stepped up to the plate to be the person to do so.
In the pursuit of knowledge once again, I began constructing a game engine from the ground up using various api's. Almost two years later, the engine is nearing a beta release stage and I am working to
hopefully help those just starting down the road that I myself have been traversing.
I still love playing games, but being involved in creating interactive worlds, too me, is the ultimate aphrodisiac. There's nothing more challenging and more rewarding then taking an idea, a concept, and
making it become a real thing. It's my goal to create games that bring people joy, so they can experience all the joy that gaming has brought me.

Posted On Jul 17 2009I wanted to stop by and share that we've got an upcoming video game event here in Des Moines NEXT weekend (7/25 & 7/26)!
We could really use your help to help bring the fun to our first church that's hired us to help run a large gaming element. Both Saturday and Sunday evening, the event only runs from 5-9pm, so we'd have plenty of time to enjoy other things during the weekend if you'd like and this large church is allowing us to spread the GoG word too!
We could use some of your gaming equipment if you're cool with that, as we'll be running 8 gaming stations each evening. I have more details and I hope you can make it...so let me know your thoughts asap... -
