  1. xPUNISHMENT47x Halo Reach Beta

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 07 2010

Well, thanks Bungie...for making Halo more complicating than it was.

    *3 DAYS EARLIER*

So; I was sitting at home, constantly hawking my e-mail for the "special invitation" I was going to receive from Bungie...WRONG. I was supposed to get my all access Halo Reach Beta Code since I am a avid Halo 2 player, BUT...it never arrived.

After a couple more days of waiting, reading other peoples posts about the beta, and hearing people around bragging about how epic the spartan "ju-jitsu" was, I finally received my invitation exclusively for the beta. Excitement kicked in.

I waited a 5 hours for the beta to download. It was slower than molasses, but the fight was on.

Halo Reach is so buggy, it's not even funny.

I run around a corner... BOOM HEADSHOT, some guy nails me with his pistol in one shot. I was frustrated for a few rounds so I took a small break. I got back on later on deciding- "Hey, I think I'm going to customize my armor"...nope.

The ranking system is so tough and you have to play over 20 ranked matches, just to earn one piece of armor?!

So there, that's all the time I have to tell you about my Halo Reach Beta experience. Hope you enjoy. Thanks Bungie, just thanks.

Wow, 5 hours?! I thought i held the record at 2 hours. Oh well.

I actually like the new system (Stalker, Gaurdian, Warrior, Airiel) To me it adds an element of teamwork even when playing with complete strangers. Everyone gets a specialty and a job to do. It also adds a little innovation that the genre sorely needs.

And i feel ya on the bugs. It was nutz. We were wondering if, cuz its just the beta, if someone managed to hack the game. I try not to be a sore loser and blame it on cheating, but ive played so much Conduit that now i always just kind of assume someone is cheating. lolz

But overall i really enjoyed the experience, and plan to get online again soon. Prolly this coming friday. I cant wait. Very Happy

I can agree that this game needs some tuning up before the main release! Head on over to bungie.net and tell them what they need to do since they are starting to use the "listening to the Fans method"!!

I'm sorry to see so much pain, in your attempt to try out this new game in the Halo series!

I have to be honest, my experience with the Halo Reach Beta has been basically the opposite, in the fact that I had the code basically handed to me 3-4 days before the public release and haven't had too much experience with major bugs.

Besides the challenges of getting things started and working through a few design bugs, what are your thoughts on the gameplay so far? We may be getting the GoG together for a little game night next Wednesday night (7pm on 5/12/10), so that might be a chance to play with more people you know Wink

Nice Chronicle though and be sure to share more thoughts in the GoG Forum thread for this title!
