Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 05 2010

Gamers for Giving 2010 was a decent event. I wish the President wasn't in town so the venue could've been at the same place as last year but oh well.

Last year I played in the H3 tournament with an OG ninja. We did pretty well. Placed top 10 out of the 128 teams. This year, I coached for the MW2 team, Armada. I have to say that this was one of the best experiences I've ever had at an event. Although I didn't like how small the venue was, I just loved the environment I was in.

So the day started off with my team signing in and getting warmed up. We warmed up against V3nom and completely destroyed them! All I remember is that everyone's communication was spot on and my coaching abilities were tip-top!

After our warm-up, we had to sit around for a good while as earlier matches were going on. We were in the 4th heat so we had a long down time. Our first match was against Oh My COD. For the coin toss for maps, we decided we should go with Afghan because that was one of our strongest maps. They wanted to go with Rundown. We do the coin toss and we lose (thanks Randy) so we are forced to play Rundown.

Going into this match, we had no clue what we were going to run on this map because we had hardly any practice. But we started that match and they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. We completely demolished them and sent them into the Loser's bracket early!

Next match up was against Michiganimals and they win the coin toss and choose Highrise. This is one of our weakest maps. The game starts our with them getting us in a quick spawn trap and after that it was all a blur. It was hard to call out positions when they are spawn trapping so I was basically no help at all. But they were the better team and knocked us down to the Loser's bracket.

Next thing you know, we're up against Oh My COD AGAIN! This time it's do or die time. We figured we knocked them down once, this time we were going for blood. We lose the coin toss AGAIN! Before this, they were watching us play Michiganimals and saw that we have no clue how to play Highrise... so they chose Highrise. We ended up getting spawn trapped early. We fought out of it to get a late B cap. We held a good 2 cap for a couple minutes. We thought we were going to be able to make a comeback and shove it in these guys faces. But with some careless mistakes, we ended up dropping B and then they 3 capped at the end of the game to finish us off.

This wasn't the fairytale ending that we wanted but it was an experience. I was proud to be able to talk with some of the other teams and even get asked to coach some teams while I was coaching Armada. I'm really stoked for the next Gamers for Giving and hopefully I'll be playing in some form of Halo tournament whether it be H3 or HR. We'll see when the time comes.

This event was a great time and I'm glad your team won the championship, although a little more sportsmanship might be a better road to take.

We're all gamers and friends of this event, so I hope you can stay competitive, but also befriend these other teams that provided you some good competition!

Thanks for getting involved around here and I enjoyed your perspective of GFG 2010! Be sure to connect with the event's GoG profile and continue to share this unique video game community with your whole crew...

I edited out the "additional" comments. DOGASH, please avoid that kind of derogatory name-calling in the future. Thanks.

Michiganimals were the fags that won by the way. Teams don't really need a coach who has no experience as of how to have a team set-up/break a spawn trap. We'll be whatever you call us, but to most, we're the winners.
