What a good time. Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, CoD 4, good pizza, how can you go wrong?

Bottom line, you can't, it was absolutely awesome. Too bad I wasn't good enough to win. But it was worth it to see Brandon's ass get handed to him by a 7 year old, but me and everyone else did too Laughing (except Matt)

I managed to make quick work of Nick (Souize) and was absolutely suprised that I hit the entire intro to Rock You Like a Hurricane and doing the style bonus! I also managed to get a squeeze in Shocked

I don't remember who I played next, but I know he was young. We played Cliffs of Dover and I think I smoked him by like 90K, and I played quote Othersider "effortlessly,"
but I didn't think I did too hot.

The next match kind of sucked. It was Raining Blood (which I suck at) against Conner, the 7 year old GH Prodigy. And it didn't help that I had finally passed Mosh 1 of this song like 3 weeks ago so I was completely out of practice on it. He ended up only beating me by like 30K, which I know I could have gotten, but I just had to do style stuff. But that's ok, because if I would have won, my next match would have been against Brandon.

My first (and only) match in the losers bracket was against Zach, but it was in the Winners bracket in the big room due to controller malfunctioning in the other room. We played One and I made really stupid mistakes in the beginning, he made mistakes in the darkness riffs, I missed most of the solo, he nailed most of the solo, and at the end I was slightly ahead, but I had to miss one, just had to, so he pulled ahead by 3K. EPIC FAIL.

Brandon lost to Conner and bumped him to the Losers bracket on none other than Take This Life, horrible song to play. Then Brandon and Zach duked it out and Brandon won, but I don't remember what song they played. And I honestly don't remember what songs Matt played and who he lost to, but at least I can say I was in the winners bracket longer than him Very Happy

So Brandon and Conner made it to the finals and they played TTFAF of course. Brandon tried tapping the beginning and of course failed, Conner got most, if not, all of the notes in the intro, and Conner ended up winning by like 14K, if Brandon would have hit the intro and got the style bonus, he probably would have had him.

Overall, it was a good time and am looking forward to the next tourney. Next time maybe we can plan a tourney farther east? Wink

Hey, great review here and it's fun to hear the perspective of the participants. It not only helps us know how people felt about the event, but also allows us to get better at running the shows Very Happy

Maybe Brandon can do some campaigning in the Cedar Rapids area and we can rock an event there. Iowa City would be a hot spot too, with the university.

Anyways, stay close and we'll see you soon...

That was a pretty good run on RYLAH, Zach. I can NEVER hit that 1st sp phrase. Again, that One battle was epic. Matt and I were talking about how cool/funny it was to see the little dial in the center of the screen flipping out as you guys kept dead even for a while.
Yeah Chris, you missed a lot of great matches. Hopefully you can stay for the full tournament next time. To be honest, Matt should have won our first match. My 1st SP went off in a really terrible place, and he set his off to even things out. He would have had me on score alone had he saved his SP.

Next time, I am going to practice the crap out of TTL and TTFAF. Both runs were pretty bad. Though I did have Connor on score (barely) for TTL, he got the style bonus and the win.

Thanks for filling in some of the gaps for me with your chronicle. I really wish I could have been there the entire time to watch the Expert semis & finals.

Hopefully next time Brandon (my Brandon, not Dynafire) won't have a cousin's birthday party to run off to!

It was great to see everybody again. I too enjoyed the setup immensely. What was even better for me? I was a GUEST this time around and didn't have to run around like a headless chicken. That made it all the more fun for me.

If I remember right, Matt's (Palpatine's) first loss was to Dynafire by a very slim margin, with Brandon getting the most mileage out of his style bonus. It's only 5% in Expert, so it goes to show how closely matched they were this time out. Brandon definitely brought his A-game!
