  1. BLACK_21 Spoiled Gamers of 2008...???

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Apr 22 2008

Why is it now a days gamers are acting spoiled? People keep complaining about issues games are having or why they are delayed. To me, if a game is delayed, it's just telling me to wait because your going to have problems and complain to the company to fix them NOW... Or why are games taking so long to come out "ya told us it was coming out on this date now you push it back, c'mon man"... these are reason why iIfeel certain gamers should take into consideration that its f****** hard for programmers to deal with, they're the ones working overtime for us to get these good games out, while we sit and complain... I feel like the people who are complaining to them should go see what they go through... for god sake, stop complaining and be happy they are smart enough to come out with these games while u sit home doing nothing...

What do you guys in GoG think?

Seems to me that one of the downsides of any online community is that it provides a place for complainers to complain... Ranting and griping are always going to outnumber thoughtful, insightful &/or intelligent comments and criticisms two to one.*

(*Not here on the GOG, of course... the majority of GOG members seem to be much more considerate and genuine than most!)

In any case, nice Chronicle. On behalf of developers who spend countless hours and dozens of sleepless nights in a continual search for "...something new and different and better and yada, yada, yada..." ...Thanks for stickin' up for us!

I truly don't mind waiting from a personal standpoint. That usually signifies that the developer has found something major that needs tweaking before general release, they are adding additional content to make the experience more enjoyable overall, listening to their beta testers (!) and fixing problems, overhauling problem A.I. or any number of things that if they failed to do we would all grumble about anyway. "I paid $60 for this piece of *%#@?!?" I think they'd rather have their ducks in a row than release something that would get negative reviews, or worse yet, to have the whole cadre of internet bloggers ranting about major problems with the game and telling everybody who will listen to skip buying it. It all boils down to the bottom line.

I'd much rather have the dev take their time and release a quality product. $60 for a game isn't chump change. We all demand value for that kind of money, and if they can't deliver this time, we'll rethink buying a game from that developer in the future.

On the other side of the coin, it's frustrating as a game center owner to have all the hype surrounding a game, a release date set, people telling you they'll be up THAT DAY when it's released to try it out only to have their hopes dashed when it's delayed. Then we go into damage control mode and try to entice them into trying something similar they maybe haven't tried yet to appease them until it's finally released.

    those are good feed backs...

I'm not taking sides, because i understand where we're coming from as gamers and as developers... the reason i stated this is because the one game that kept me online for hours (COD4) has been damaged by both sides on the ps3... i have seen so many post on their forum, everyone cursing each other out and the creators of the game... its getting pathetic... same is happening for rb6v2... i had high hopes for this one since rb6v1 was so good... yeah every game is gonna have their problems and theres nothing we can do about it... people need to understand that... either become a developer and help or offer support in anyway...

exactly. i know like certain games of course its a dissapointment knowing they might be delayed... but that just tells me its going to be even more of a kick ass game in the end because they are working extra hard to make sure it is. Great chronicle Very Happy

Wow, you're really fighting for the developers here! I can understand what you're saying and I agree that alot of people don't comprehend the complexity of building any sort of interactive software, especially a video game, let alone a mainstream type of title that people are waiting for a release date!

Like you it sounds like, I'm also very patient with developers, but I can see the other side of people getting frustrated because the development studio gives a date that may or may not be achievable.

There will always be setbacks with any sort of development, but as long as the creators keep the consumers fairly informed and aren't way past a previous release date(like the last Grand Tourismo for instance, haha, wow), it seems like the greedy folks are less aggressive and more understanding.

I would also encourage people to be appreciative of the edgy new games that are being developed and if a month gives the designers a better chance at making the game great...I am willing to wait it out and then appreciate a better gaming experience!
