So, I spent all last week watching E3 coverage on G4 and checking online updates, plus some of the unfinished business throughout the first half of this week (i.e. - Halo 4). Now, naturally G4 would have it that Microsoft "won" E3 this year, which really doesn't surprise me much, though I seriously disagree. The thing I think they deliberately missed is just how much Sony has leveled up.

My take is this - while there are a lot of exciting games coming to market in our near future, quite a few are rehashes and carbon copies, and Microsoft seems to be flocking to the latter. I mean, honestly, guys and gals, I saw the same damn FPS at least 5 times for XBox and they were all different games. Sony's wisdom of a locked down, very, very particular environment is about to be fully demonstrated as the network finally grows and develops to customer satisfaction. Their choice in games is lending more room for innovation than MS can possibly dream of in the coming year, despite their newly open indie developer market. Nintendo, on the other hand, has only a handful of pros to brag about this year, and their conference left a bitter-sweet taste in my mouth. Innovation, yes, but just not enough to pole vault them to supremacy quite yet.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trading in my Wii for half off a PS3. And sure, the 360 is still on my list of desirables. But if they want to talk about who "won" in the noncompetition of E308, G4 really ought to take a much closer look at Sony's transmogrification going into effect as we speak, and someone ought to tag them and tell them that.

I agree. There really was no clear winner and Yahoo Games had proclaimed Sony the early leader of E3 after the main press conferences last week.

I'm not saying who "won" this year, because all three companies are just refining their systems and none of them really stuck out to me. Most of the good games are multi-platformed, but I think the major factor is that alot more people already have a 360 and/or Wii, which will open the door a bit more for Sony Very Happy

    BTW..."Sony's transmogrification"...NICE!
