  1. TGS2008 Tokyo Game Show: The Line

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Oct 19 2008

    Yeah, I'm starting there.

Leaving my hotel at nearly six in the morning, the trains were only starting to seriously fill up. After stopping for directions (and a nice dosage of Natchan Orange), we hopped the train headed for the Makuhari stop... where there was no place to sit, but it was enough room to breathe... as opposed to trying to find space with the business crowd the day before.

We reach the station and marched, along with more than ten full train cars of people, up the escalators and toward Makuhari Messe, the massive convention center where the show was held (http://www.m-messe.co.jp/index_e.html). We made it to the ticket counter, bought a couple for ¥1200 and headed to the MAIN line...

Which, as it turns out, wrapped around the building. At LEAST once.

I figured there would be a line, that wasn't surprising. Nearly NO matter how early you get to a video game convention from my experience, there will be a line, but this was just ridiculous... we were there nearly two hours early, and we had to walk as far in the line as we did from the station to the center! It was like a line waiting at Disney, except that the end result was well worth the time. The show opened at nine, and we were in before 9:30.

And that sign that I WISH I could've grabbed a shot of (the line behind us I didn't want to fight with, it was just as long as the line was in front of us!) was a beacon of nerdly love I won't soon forget!

Yes, for such a memorable event, this chronicle leaves a lot to be desired. Although I did dig the shots of booth babes Smile . You must tell us more of your epic journey and more booth babes wouldn't hurt either.

So you're saying there were a few people at this event, huh? haha, thanks for the imagery and if that line was that long, how were things inside? Did you have to wait long to check out the games?

Where the companies there to sell the new games? How far out was the development? Where game developers themselves sharing the games or was it more hot people that could talk?

    I want MORE, MORE, MORE
