    Dead Pixels

Do you know what happens when a normal person has a migraine? They take a nap. Do you know what happens when I have a migraine? I come up with some really messed up ideas.
The result? This second list of licenses that deserve good games is, I think, much less sane than the first. However, I think everything you’re about to read about could make a splash in the interactive scene. Let’s see if I’m right.

History Channel presents Life After People
    Type: Television show
    Developer: ??? (Any ideas?)
If you’ve seen this show, you know it’s one of the more chilling things on television, proposing a sudden extinction of humans and then projecting sometimes tens of thousands of years into the future. A game without a human protagonist, made to be serious, might take some effort. But perhaps it could be like that old SNES game about evolution. Guide herds or groups of animals in an attempt at survival in a human-less world, one that is constantly undergoing severe change. The end goal could be evolution and rebuilding, or simple survival. I admit I’m at a loss as to who could develop this one. Any takers?

    Captain N: The Game Master
    Type: Cartoon/Comic
    Developer: Nintendo
Anyone remember this old show/comic from the eighties? Kevin Keene was a typical eighties high school kid, until he was sucked into his favorite video games and ended up battling Metroid’s Mother Brain. Why would such a corny thing make a good game? Precisely because it’s corny. Games have gotten old enough now to make fun of themselves, ala Matt Hazard. I’m picturing a story where Keene, his glory days behind him, approaching 40 with a slight beer gut, desperately seeks to re-enter the gaming world where he belongs. There he finds that the princess has let herself go and all his old buddies have forgotten him. He embarks on a hilarious quest to make a new name for himself in modern gaming. Heck, the jokes about wiimote wiggling would alone be worth it.

    Thor
    Type: Comic
    Developer: Ready at Dawn
I’m probably cheating on this one, since Marvel’s Thor is getting a movie soon and a game adaptation is almost certain to follow. And if it isn’t made by Sega, it might be decent, but it likely still won’t live up to Thor’s potential. Ready at Dawn, developers of the PSP’s God of War: Chains of Olympus, could really give us a Thor game worth swinging our giant hammers about. Being able to fully explore Asgard would be a dream come true, of course, but please: don’t make us play as Donald Blake in any silly medical minigames.

    Sonic the Hedgehog
    Type: Comic
    Developer: Bioware
What’s that you say? Sonic actually already has games? And most of them suck? True, but here I am referring to the comic produced by Archie. It has the distinction of being the longest-running comic ever based on a game, and yet almost none of the great story-telling of the book has made the leap to video games. Before Sega proved they can’t make a good Sonic game with Unleashed, Bioware made a valiant attempt to restore Sonic’s reputation with Sonic Chronicles on the DS. Ergo, they should get the opportunity to adapt the comic into a console game. The ongoing war on the planet Mobius still makes for some good reading, and it’s high time it got the gaming treatment.

History Channel presents Ice Road Truckers
    Type: TV Show
    Developer: Codemasters
I know this is starting to sound like HC is slipping me a check, but hear me out. This show covers truckers who navigate their shipments over frozen lakes in Canada’s Northwest Territories. It’s one of the world’s most dangerous jobs, and would make for a damn fine driving title. It would certainly be a unique experience, and that’s just the sort of thing that Codemasters, developers of DiRT and the upcoming Fuel, seem to enjoy doing with their racers.

When I read Ice Road Truckers I immediately thought that you were reading too many of my chronicles Laughing ...Anyway Thor's cool and Viking could have been a much better game, so I would definately play that!
