Player Chronicle -- Posted on Aug 31 2010

I realize I haven't been on this site as much as I used to, even after promising to be here more. In total honesty I don't feel like I can make an impact. There are other gamers on here that are professionals, people who live to play just one game or genre, people hoping to start major MLG clans, and even some girls that can kick my ass any day. Me: I collect games and play what I want to play.

But I've been here for almost 3 years, and aside from member count, GoG hasn't changed that much. Ben is STILL toasting in his display pic (seriously dude, time for a new one?), my pic collection hasn't grown at all, and I've sadly only listened to one podcast so far.
But the sense of community and professionalism is still here.

I'm apart of several other gaming communities. A couple of them have the site creators directly involved and being friendly with the users. Others there's a looming presence of a benevolent overlord or a staff of angry mods and admins ready to ban me for not posting a blog or rating a game.

Here I can post my thoughts and Ben will always comment and throw a penny in, never his two cents. I can understand that, showing his opinion on someone's blog might cause them to get angry at him and not come back to the site. I say that if they do that then good, it weeds out the people who can't handle criticism.

I don't expect to win another t-shirt for this chronicle *cough*shirtsize2XL*cough* but I want to let the people of GoG know that if you've been looking for a gaming community site that is just easy for a change... no achievements, no points system, no levels, no feeling like you're on a game show to win a prize... then GoG is what you want.

I don't have much else to say. I'll just end it here.

    Keep Playing.

I can't tell if you're harping on the GoG here, or loving it, haha? Nonetheless, I had to comment on this Chronicle, right?!

Anyways, I agree that this community hasn't changed a whole lot in the 3 years we've been online. If our company was making millions, I'm sure we'd be updating things a lot more often. Since that's not the case, we've added some cool things here and there and do have plans to continue establishing this project as the main hub for gamers who appreciate friendly, active, fun, and helpful connections within their gaming adventures.

You need to listen to more GoGcasts man. Season 4 - Episode 3 is great, so tune into that for sure.

We do have things coming down the pipe, but our Video Game Event Management seems to be the best way to finance these updates, so if YOU know an organization looking to add gaming to their event, let us know!

Thanks for sticking with the GoG for so long and even though we may not be the most technically advanced, I like to think we have the most heart...
